Right Mind Set For Weight Loss

If you lack motivation, you are guaranteed to fail at everything you do. Without that fire burning inside, you will not have the drive to push yourself forward. Like anything in life, you need to apply yourself. Losing weight is no different.

We have all become accustomed to the immediate gratification from the conveniences of the modern world that we have now forgotten how patience and perseverance were part of our lives. People in general now lack etiquette.

So what should you do if you really want to lose weight then?

As was previously stated in this blog, your mindset is going to be what will determine whether you will achieve your weight loss goals.

There are many different types of mindsets but we are going to focus on fixed mindset and growth mindset.

People with fixed mindsets avoid challenges due to the fear of failure. These people also believe that everyone is born with fixed talents and intelligence and they do not believe that intelligence and talent can be developed over time.

However, a person with a growth mindset takes on challenges and they are not afraid of failure. These people believe that talent and intelligence can be cultivated over time.

A person with a growth mindset has the ability to see other people’s success as a source for inspiration and motivation. They also see failure as a temporary setback and also view criticism as constructive feedback.

So what does this have to do with weight loss? Well, without and end goal there will be no beginning. In other words, If you cannot imagine or see yourself at the end of your weight loss journey, then you will never begin it.

With a Growth Mindset, a person who wants to lose weight will seek inspiration and motivation from those who have achieved what they are trying to achieve. For example, I found my inspiration from reading David Goggins’ books.

David Goggins’s books helped me develop an image in my mind of who I wanted to be at the end of the journey.

Once I was motivated, I began my journey by reading and researching about diet and nutrition. I watched a lot of videos on diet and nutrition and began calorie counting.

I set a target date and the weight goal I wanted to achieve and worked towards it every single day. I evaluated my target weight goals every week and adjusted the following week’s nutrition and exercise weekly targets based on this.

I did not give up when I did not achieve my weekly target weight loss because I did not view this as a failure. I had developed a growth mindset. I simply looked for inspiration from those who had achieved my goal and continued on.
